Nathaniel Tyson
Nathaniel Tyson is originally from Valley Forge, PA. He began his formal ballet training at the Greater York Center for Dance Education in York, PA, before attending Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, where he graduated cum laude with his BA in Dance-Pedagogy. During his time at Butler he performed featured roles in The Nutcracker, Giselle, Cinderella, and The Sleeping Beauty. He also performed in new works set by Cynthia Pratt and Susan McGuire, as well as the world premiere of Patrick de Bana’s Falling Sky. In 2018, Nathaniel toured Eastern Europe with Butler Ballet, where he trained and performed in Poland, The Slovak Republic, and the Czech Republic. He has been a guest artist with Ballet Theatre of Indiana, Expressenz Dance Center, the Butler Ballet Summer Intensive performances, and with Indianapolis’s professional modern dance company, Dance Kaleidoscope. Currently, he is a company member with State Street Ballet in Santa Barbara, CA, where he has performed Soloist and Principal roles in Carmina Burana, The Nutcracker, Appalachian Spring, The Sleeping Beauty, and the Broadway musical Kismet directed by Lonny Price. He has performed featured roles in works by Kassandra Taylor Newberry and Laurie Eisenhower and, most recently, he had the pleasure of touring internationally to Osaka and Tokyo Japan with State Street Ballet’s The Jungle Book and Tango Rain.
